Jurassic World: Dominion moves to 2022, teaser poster released

October 7, 2020 by EJ Moreno

In a move that comes as no surprise in an era where film delays are all too common, the upcoming Jurassic World sequel is shifting to 2022.

Originally set for June 11th, 2021, Jurassic World: Dominion will now debut on June 10, 2022. Universal and Amblin Entertainment announced this news on Tuesday, citing production delays and continued uncertainty about the theater-going experience in the future.

Sources close to The Hollywood Reporter note the that the situation has nothing to do with the actual production, but rather concerns from the studio. With Dominion being a major asset to the studio, reports say Universal and Amblin want to ensure that everything works in a timeline that will be best for park tie-ins, merchandising partnerships, and more. The film is reportedly about three weeks from wrapping in the U.K.

Director Colin Trevorrow took to Twitter to update fans about the situation, and brought along a brand-new poster:

For the past three months, I’ve worked with an extraordinary cast and crew on a film we can’t wait to share with the world. Even though we'll have to wait a bit longer, it will all be worth it. Let’s stay healthy and take care of each other until then. pic.twitter.com/vnGzhHs4nR

It will now open on June 10th, 2022.
