Kevin Feige explains why he really loves MCU post-credits scenes

Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, has revealed the real reason behind his love for MCU post-credit scenes.

Films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have become well known for their post-credits scenes, often more than one per film, offering fans a taste of things to come in a future sequel or MCU installment.

But to entertain fans and build up hype for what’s to come isn’t the only reason why Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, is so fond of these post-credits scenes. Speaking at the 2018 Britannia Awards (via ComicBook.com) while being honoured for contributions to worldwide entertainment, Feige said:

“Movies bring people together, but they also bring people together behind the scenes. At Marvel Studios, we’ve been putting a scene after the end credits in all of our films since the very beginning. The fans love it, it’s a tease of something to come.

“But the real bonus is that the audience is going to sit there and look at all the names of the hundreds of thousands of people who work so hard to bring these movies to life. That really inspired me as a kid, to see all those names and I hope it inspires people today.”

Feige is right, so much work goes into making movies, especially on the scale of a Marvel blockbuster, so it’s good to recognise all the hard work. And it is certainly a clever way to get fans to sit through the credits when they normally would have left the cinema already.
