Lucifer’s future looks bleak as The CW passes, but Tom Ellis isn’t giving up hope

May 19, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Lucifer fans were hit with some bad news this past week as FOX announced that it had cancelled the TV adaptation of the DC/Vertigo series after three season on the air.

In response, the show’s fanbase took to social media to launch a #SaveLucifer campaign in the hope that – as with Brooklyn Nine-Nine – another network could come in to save the series.

Well, unfortunately the campaign has taken a hit this week with Mark Pedowitz, president of The CW (a network thought to present a good chance to save the series), stating to Deadline that:

“We have not had conversations, there have been no discussions. We have been focused on own development, we are happy with what we have.”

Nevertheless, leading man Tom Ellis isn’t giving up hope, with the actor telling RadioTimes:

“I was expecting [The CW to pass], I wasn’t disappointed by the news. I knew it was coming because, from what I’ve learned about the show and what I’ve learned about the business behind the show, it just was not the right fit. If it were to move forward [a streaming service] seems to be the strongest option right now ”
