Mad Max: Fury Road enjoys $109.4 million global opening weekend

May 17, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Having been shot way back in 2012, George Miller’s post apocalyptic action sequel/reboot Mad Max: Fury Road finally roared into cinemas this past Thursday, with the film pulling in a $109.4 million opening weekend around the globe.

Having pulled in $65 million from 68 international markets, along with a $44 million U.S. bow in second place behind Pitch Perfect 2, Fury Road is now the highest-grossing instalment in the Mad Max franchise (which isn’t too much of a surprise given the last instalment came thirty years ago), and also provided Miller with his biggest ever opener.
