Mammoth-sized new Doctor Who audio drama series Dark Gallifrey to launch April

February 21, 2024 by Andrew Newton

Gallifrey is home to the Time Lords, home to the Doctor, but it is also home to less heroic and virtuous characters. These darker characters from the world of Doctor Who are the focus of an epic new 24 part full-cast audio drama from Big Finish Productions set to begin in April.  Watch the new trailer for this upcoming series below….

Time Lords may be extremely intelligent, their technology and abilities may far surpass that of us mere humans, but just like with humanity there are some individuals who like to just watch the world burn. It is these chaotic, villainous, mischievous and plain evil characters that give rise to an epic new 24-part full-cast audio drama.

Part one of the first trilogy will feature Morbius, played by Samuel West. Morbius’ trilogy and a second villain’s story will release between April and September 2024, with two trilogies releasing each year up to 2027.  As well as Morbius, Gallifrey fans can expect to see stories on The War Master (Sir Derek Jacobi), Missy (Michelle Gomez) and the infamous Master (Eric Roberts).

Series Producer, Rob Valentine said: “Dark Gallifrey is a sprawling, multi-story event in which all the most dastardly Time Lords are being let out of the box in various unexpected ways. Some stories are very dark, others are wickedly funny, and some are absolutely insane.  Expect a rogue’s gallery of Gallifrey’s most diabolical villains all taking to the stage. Their stories are wildly different, scripted by some of Big Finish’s most acclaimed writers… and, behind it all, something massive is brewing.”

Each part of Dark Gallifrey is available to pre-order now as pre-order as a single-disc collector’s edition CD plus download for £10.99 or as a download only for just £8.99.  A complete year’s worth of stories is also available to pre-order. See the Big Finish website for more details.
