Having been one of the earliest projects to halt production as a result of the global health crisis, it seems that Marvel Studios is preparing to resume production on next year’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings this month.
Shang-Chi is based at Fox Studios in Sydney, Australia, and Deadline is reporting that Marvel is taking “careful steps” to prepare for the shoot, with cast and crew travelling into Australia set to face quarantine upon arrival. That won’t include leading man Simu Liu, who has remained in the country during the shutdown.
Destin Daniel Cretton (The Glass Castle) is directing Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, while Liu is joined in the cast by Tony Leung (Infernal Affairs) as The Mandarin and Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians) in an as-yet-unrevealed role.

It’s also been reported – but yet to be confirmed by Marvel – that the cast will include Florian Munteanu (Creed II), Rosalind Chao (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) and Ronny Chieng (Crazy Rich Asians).
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is currently slated for release on May 7th 2021.
