Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier won’t premiere in August

July 17, 2020 by Gary Collinson

This really seemed inevitable from the moment that production shut down in March with around three weeks of filming to go, but now it’s official: Marvel Studios’ first Disney+ offering The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has been delayed.

The series was originally scheduled to hit the streaming service in August, which – had everything gone to plan and the world not found itself struck down by a global pandemic – would have made it Marvel’s second Phase Four project following Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow movie (which has itself been moved to November).

However, Disney has sent out its August newsletter covering all of the new programming for the month, and as expected The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is nowhere to be found.  As yet, there’s no word on a possible new premiere date for the series, but it was reported earlier this month that filming is slated to resume in August so hopefully the delay won’t be too long.

Meanwhile, Deadline is suggesting that Marvel’s WandaVision is still on track to premiere in October, meaning that fans do have something to look forward to should anything happen to push Black Widow and Falcon and Winter Soldier into 2021.

Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier features a cast that includes MCU veterans Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier), Emily VanCamp (Sharon Carter), Daniel Bruhl (Zemo) and new additions Wyatt Russell (Overlord), Carl Lumbly (Doctor Sleep), Adepero Oduye (The Big Short), Desmond Chiam (Now Apocalypse), Miki Ishikawa (The Terror: Infamy) and Noah Mills (The Brave).
