Miles Teller to play The Only Living Boy In New York for Marc Webb

November 5, 2014 by James Garcia

In a strange turn of events, Reed Richards, Mister Fantastic himself, is teaming up with The Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb. Unfortunately, it’s not in some awesome studio crossover meant to save the Spider-Man film franchise, but a new project from the director as part of his Fox Searchlight commitment.

After making the ill-received The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Webb is returning to the indie scene for The Only Living Boy In New York, and has brought Fantastic Four and Whiplash star Miles Teller along with him. Teller will star as a young man who discovers that his father is having an affair, and when he tries to stop it he winds up becoming involved with the woman as well.

Fury and Percy Jackson series star Logan Lerman was once attached to the project, but things have clearly changed in the two years since the film was initially announced. Webb has another Fox Searchlight picture, The Gifted, on his slate as well, but with Teller’s involvement The Only Living Boy In New York will likely take precedent.

As far as what this could mean for Webb’s future involvement in the Amazing Spider-Man franchise, well… who the hell knows, at this point?
