Nintendo reveals November Mario Kart 8 DLC details

November 6, 2014 by Tom Powter

During the Nintendo Direct last night, the games company revealed some more details about the frankly stunning looking Mario Kart 8 DLC.

First off, the important detail – the November DLC is dropping on the 13th, so not long to go!

The three new characters are Link, Tanooki Mario and Cat Peach. It’s amazing how well Link fits into the world of Mario Kart and I can’t wait for more outsiders to join! Tanooki Mario and Cat Peach still kind of suck though.

Vehicles such as the Blue Falcon from F-Zero and Link’s epic looking Mastercycle are both great additions.

However, where this DLC truly shines is the track selection. Oh wow. The obvious highlights for me were the Hyrule Circuit, which sees you racing across Hyrule Field before taking the race into the castle itself. You actually collect rupees, rather than coins, which is just another great detail.

Mute City, the F-Zero track, is stunning. The entire track is anti-gravity based and looks phenomenal. The Excitebike track changes every time you race on it, while original tracks like Dragon Driftway and Ice Ice Outpost are also beautiful looking examples of design.

The returning tracks are Rainbow Road from the SNES, Yoshi’s Circuit from Double Dash and Wario Goldmine from the Wii. All in all a great track list.

Mario Kart’s DLC looks like an essential purchase for Kart fans, so don’t miss it!
