Patricia Clarkson joins Netflix’s Ransom Canyon

September 30, 2025 by Ricky Church

Netflix has announced that Patricia Clarkson (Lilly) will be joining the cast of its drama Ransom Canyon for its second season in a recurring role.

Ransom Canyon follows Staten Kirkland (Josh Duhamel) as he and other ranching families fight for control over land between each other and outside forces. Meanwhile, Kirkland tries to rebuild his life after family tragedies with a blossoming romance with Quinn O’Grady (Minka Kelly).

Clarkson will portray Quinn’s mother, Claire O’Brady. At this time no other character details have been provided. The logline for the second season currently reads “The future of Ransom Canyon hangs in the balance as ranching dynasties continue to vie for power, and new faces arrive, threatening the lives and loves of this quaint, western town.”

“We’re thrilled to be back and can’t wait to turn up the steam, the drama… and the romance that Ransom fans have grown to love,” said creator, showrunner and executive producer April Blair.

Joining the cast with Clarkson is Ben Robson (Animal Kingdom) and Heidi Engerman (Candyman) while Eoin Macken and Andrew Liner will not return for the second season after being regulars in the first.

Ransom Canyon is based on the book series by Jodi Thomas with Blair serving as showrunner and writer. The second season is currently in production.

“Welcome to Ransom Canyon, where love, loss, and loyalty collide beneath the crimson mesas of Texas Hill Country. With three ranching family dynasties locked in a contest for control of the land, their lives and legacies are threatened by outside forces intent on destroying their way of life. At the center of it all is stoic rancher Staten Kirkland (Duhamel), who is healing from heartbreaking loss and on a quest for vengeance. Staten’s only glimmer of hope rests in the eyes and heart of Quinn O’Grady (Kelly), longtime family friend and owner of the local dancehall. But as the battle to save Ransom wages on, a mysterious cowboy drifts into town, dredging up secrets from the past. Vise tightening, Staten fights to protect the land he calls home, and the only love that can pull him back from the demons that haunt him.”

Ransom Canyon features Josh Duhamel, Minka Kelly, James Brolin, Eoin Macken, Lizzy Greene, Marianly Tejada, Jack Schumacher, Garrett Wareing, Andrew Liner, Jaren Robledo, Casey W. Johnson, Jennifer Ens, Brett Cullen, Kate Burton, Niko Guardado, Philip Winchester, Justin Johnson Cortez and Kenneth Miller.
