During the San Diego Comic-Con, it was officially announced that Gal Gadot will be reprising the role of the Amazon Princess in Wonder Woman 2, set for release on December 13th 2019.
Absent from the original announcement was news of Patty Jenkins’ return as director, and according to Deadline, that is because the filmmaker was yet to close her deal, but is now putting pen to paper on a contract that will see her become the highest-paid female director in Hollywood.
The site reports that Jenkins’ deal “is in line with any other [male] director who has performed at this level”, referring to the near-$800 million box office gross of this year’s DC superhero blockbuster. Although no specific figures are mentioned, the article goes on to report that Zack Snyder was paid around $10 million for Man of Steel, whereas a fresh director working on a comic book movie will usually receive between $1.5 million and $3 million.
