Percy Jackson and the Olympians finds its villains and Annabeth’s father for season 3

With the second season of Percy Jackson & The Olympians currently airing, the third season has filled out significant roles in the fate of Olympus and the world. Per Deadline, Holy McCallany (The Waterfront) and David Costabile (Breaking Bad) will star as the season’s villains while Jesse L. Martin (The Flash) joins as Annabeth’s mortal father.

The third season will be based on the third Percy Jackson book by Rick Riordan, The Titan’s Curse, which sees Percy and his friends come into conflict with the ancient Titan god Atlas. McCallany will portray Atlas, “the legendary Titan, also known as the Bearer of Heaven, who was condemned by Zeus to hold up the celestial heavens after the last Titan war against the Olympians. Atlas has recently been freed from his burden and now seeks to lead the armies of Kronos in a war of vengeance.”

Costabile will play Dr. Thorn, “a stern military academy headmaster who demands obedience from his students” who is also much more than he seems and is integral to Atlas’ plans.

Martin will star in a guest role as Frederick Chase, Annabeth’s mortal father who is somewhat estranged from her. He is described as “a sometimes absentminded but truly brilliant military historian that Athena deemed worthy to parent her daughter. Though Frederick and Annabeth have had a complicated relationship, he loves her, and they have been finding a way back to each other.”

They join fellow season three newcomers Levi Chrisopulos and Olive Abercrombie as Nico and Bianca di Angelo, two demigods Percy must protect, Dafne Keen as the goddess Artemis, Saara Chaudry as Artemis’ loyal lieutenant Zoë Nightshade and Kate McKinnon as the goddess Aphrodite.

The third season of Percy Jackson & The Olympians is currently in production in Vancouver.

Percy Jackson returns to Camp Half-Blood one year later to find his world turned upside down. His friendship with Annabeth is changing, he learns he has a cyclops for a brother, Grover has gone missing, and camp is under siege from the forces of Kronos. Percy’s journey to set things right will take him off the map and into the deadly Sea of Monsters, where a secret fate awaits the son of Poseidon.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians stars Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson, Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase, Dior Goodjohn as Clarisse La Rue, Charlie Bushnell as Luke Castellan, Virginia Kull as Sally Jackson, Glynn Turman as Chiron, and Toby Stephens as Poseidon. Season two will introduce Daniel Diemer, Timothy Simons, Tamara Smart, Sandra Bernhard, Kristen Schaal, Margaret Cho and Andra Day to the cast with Courtney B. Vance taking on the role of Zeus after Lance Reddick’s passing.
