Remedy Entertainment confirms release date for Control

March 23, 2019 by Patrick Nolan

Having been unceremoniously leaked through Microsoft’s Xbox Store the release date for Remedy Entertainment’s new third person shooter Control has been officially revealed.

The developers of titles such as Max Payne, Alan Wake and Quantum Break have confirmed via Eurogamer that Control will be released this year on August 27th.

Control was announced last year during Sony’s Press Conference at E3 2018 for both the PS4, Xbox One and PC. This was a marked departure for Remedy as all of their newest releases have only ever been available exclusively on PC and Xbox One.

We also got a good look at Control at the conference last year through a variety demos and a trailer. In the game you take the role of Jesse Faden, a newly minted bureau chief at a mysterious organisation known as the Department of Control.

Control has many gameplay mechanics that are similar to those seen in Remedy’s last release Quantum Break. Jesse has access to reality manipulation powers that she will use to combat the supernatural forces that have invaded the Department of Control and corrupted her colleagues.

Interviews with the games’ developers also suggest that it will be far from linear with various branching missions and environments to explore.
