The Resident Evil universe is heading into bold new territory later this year, this time on your mobile device. Aniplex Inc. and South Korea’s JOYCITY have teamed up for Resident Evil Survival Unit, a mobile strategy game set to launch globally later this year. Announced during an online showcase, the game is now open for pre-registration on Google Play and the App Store.
Unlike the traditional Resident Evil gameplay that fans are used to, Survival Unit puts a tactical spin on the franchise’s winning formula. Set in a parallel universe, the game starts with a mysterious hospital escape and quickly expands into an original storyline that diverges from the series. The game will be packed with a wealth of familiar and fan-favourite faces, including Leon S. Kennedy, Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine and more.
Players will build and manage a fully decked-out mansion base, complete with character interactions, mission prep’ and that iconic Weapons Merchant making a return. Players will need to think ahead and plan carefully, choosing the right team and tactics will be crucial to surviving real-time defence battles against hordes of bio-organic nightmares.
Designed as a global multiplayer experience, Resident Evil Survival Unit invites fans to jump into real-time combat and compete with others around the world, all from the palm of their hand. With a blend of base-building, character-driven gameplay and tactical combat, this may be the freshest Resident Evil experience we’ve seen in a good while.
No specific release date has been mentioned yet, but the undead are definitely coming. Keep an eye out for more news in the future.
