With its January release creeping closer, a new trailer has landed online for director Christophe Gans (2006’s Silent Hill) upcoming video game adaptation Return to Silent Hill.

Based on the second instalment in Konami’s hit video game franchise, Silent Hill 2, the horror follows James (Jeremy Irvine) as he is drawn to eerie titular town when he receives a letter concerning his long-lost love Mary, leading to his search causing him to question his own sanity as he descends deeper into the darkness that has transformed the once familiar place. Watch the trailer below…

Return to Silent Hill follows James (Jeremy Irvine), a man broken after being separated from his one true love. When a mysterious letter calls him back to Silent Hill in search of her, he finds a once-recognizable town transformed by an unknown evil. As James descends deeper into the darkness, he encounters terrifying figures both familiar and new and begins to question his own sanity as he struggles to make sense of reality and hold on long enough to save his lost love.
