HBO Max has released the first trailer for The Sympathizer, the upcoming espionage thriller based on Viet Thanh Nguyen’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel.
Directed by Park Chan-wook, Marc Munden, and Fernando Meirelles, the limited series will see Robert Downey Jr. playing four different characters, alongside a cast that includes Hoa Xuande, Fred Nguyen Khan, Toan Le, Ky Duyen, and Sandra Oh. Check out the trailer below…
The Sympathizer is “an espionage thriller and cross-culture satire about the struggles of a half-French, half-Vietnamese communist spy during the final days of the Vietnam War and his resulting exile in the United States.”
The Sympathizer is scheduled to air in 2024.
