Rocks leads winners of 2020 British Independent Film Awards

Director Sarah Gavron’s coming of age drama Rocks was named Best British Independent Film during Thursday’s 2020 BIFA Awards, with the film picking up a further four awards in Best Supporting Actress (Kosar Ali), Most Promising Newcomer (Ali), Best Supporting Actor (D’Angelou Osei Kissiedu) and Best Casting.

Netflix’s British horror His House received the awards for Best Director (Remi Weekes), Best Actress (Wunmi Mosaku), Best Production Design and Best Effects, with three for The Father in Best Actor (Anthony Hopkins), Best Screenplay and Best Editing. Other winners included Riz Ahmed (Debut Screenwriter for Mogul Mowgli), Rose Glass (Debut Director for Saint Maud) and Chloe Zhao’s Nomadland (Best International Independent Film).
