Ruben Fleischer to direct Home Alone-style comedy Overnight, We’re the Millers sequel gets a screenwriter

February 26, 2014 by admin

Gangster Squad and Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer has signed onto helm family comedy Overnight, a Home Alone-style romp set in a toy shop similar to FAO Schwartz. Plot details are being kept to an absolute minimum but it looks set to centre on a recently divorced father trying to save his relationship with his son.

Neal Moritz (21 Jump Street) is set to produce Overnight and 22 Jump Street screenwriter Oren Uziel has penned the screenplay, which is a promising sign. As yet, there’s no word on potential cast members, or a start date for production.

Meanwhile, in other comedy news, it’s been revealed that the We’re the Millers sequel has found a screenwriter, with Adam Sztykiel (Due Date, Made of Honor) attached to pen the script. with Rawson Marshall Thurber will once again return to direct. The original made an impressive $269 million worldwide last year, with a cast that included Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston, Emma Roberts and Will Poulter.
