Rumour: Zack Snyder may be returning to help finish Justice League

August 21, 2017 by Jordan Jones

In April we were hit with the news that Zack Snyder would be stepping down as director of Justice League in the wake of his daughter tragically passing away. In his place stepped Joss Whedon, who has allegedly spent the majority of production working on the connective tissue of the film, and trying to give it an overall “lighter” tone.

Now, if the latest rumours are to be believed, Zack Snyder may be returning to the set of Justice League to assist in finishing the film. This scoop is coming from a subreddit entitled r/DCEULeaks by a poster going by the name of WBUT7. He/she claims to have news from the Warner Bros. offices themselves:

“There have been rumors around the office and around the levels that Zack Snyder will soon return to finish up his movie. Although these are in no way confirmed, people have been talking about how he may come in within the next month or so to finalize the product and promote it.”

This is a bold claim, and Reddit is always a toss-up when it comes to rumors. The poster in question has claimed to be connected to WB for some time, but there is simply no way to verify the information in question. If true, this begs the question: Will Snyder be assisting Joss Whedon, or would Joss be stepping down? If the latter is true, one wonders how Snyder would feel about the changes made to the film. We know that Snyder has had some creative input on the film during his hiatus, but there’s no way to tell how far that went. Recent rumours called early cuts of Justice League “unwatchable”, and state that Joss Whedon went as far as to change the ending of the film. Only time will tell on this one.

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League will reunite Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta and Robin Wright as General Antiope alongside J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) as Commissioner Gordon, Amber Heard (The Danish Girl) as Mera, Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man) as Vulko, Kiersey Clemons (Dope) as Iris West, Ciaran Hinds (Game of Thrones) as Steppenwolf, and Julian Lewis Jones (Stella) and Michael McElhatton (Game of Thrones) in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
