Russell Crowe to star in Kevin Williamson-produced supernatural thriller

October 14, 2019 by Amie Cranswick

Russell Crowe has signed on to star in an as-yet-untitled supernatural thriller from producer Kevin Williamson (Scream, The Following, The Vampire Diaries), which is in development at Miramax.

The film marks the feature directorial debut of Joshua John Miller and M.A. Fortin (Final Girls, Queen of the South), and will see Crowe starring as a troubled actor whose life unravels during the shooting of a horror film, leading his estranged daughter to wonder if he’s slipping back into his past addictions, or whether there’s actually something more sinister at play.

“[Producer Bill Block] and I are so excited to work with Russell, one of the greatest actors of our time,” said Williamson. “Fortin and Miller have such a fresh vision for this film, we know that together they will create something terrifying and memorable.”

Crowe recently starred as disgraced Fox News executive Roger Ailes in the Showtime series The Loudest Voice, while his latest film – the Justin Kurzel-directed True History of the Kelly Gang – premiered last month at the Toronto International Film Festival and is slated for release in 2020.
