Ryan Reynolds on finally getting Deadpool 3 made: “I couldn’t be more excited”

October 8, 2022 by EJ Moreno

In a “Break The Internet” moment, Ryan Reynolds not only confirmed Deadpool 3 but let fans know that Hugh Jackman will be back as Wolverine.

This sent shockwaves through the fandom, with many expressing joy for simply getting another Deadpool movie from Reynolds and company following Disney’s Fox takeover. Now, the actor and producer behind the Merc with a Mouth is opening up about what this means to him.

During a recent interview with Forbes, Reynolds stripped back the humor a bit and let his genuine feelings known about Deadpool 3. The return of the fan-favorite Marvel character seems quite a big deal for Reynolds.

“I couldn’t be more excited. I mean, especially to do it this way. Ultimately, I get to work with some of my closest friends in the world, and that doesn’t happen every day working in this business,” says Reynolds.

“I’m thrilled, and I’ve been sitting on those couple of teasers for a few weeks now. It’s one of those moments where you’re hitting send or a tweet or a post — your hand is shaking when you’re messing with the zeitgeist in a way like that. It’s been amazing.”

He adds that his excitement is much like the fanbase’s, stating: “I feel the same way that the fans do, though. I feel as excited that this character is coming back for another ride, particularly in this context. I think it’s something that people have wanted for a long time, to get this pairing up on the big screen, and that’s what we aim to do.”

Deadpool 3 will star Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin are writing the film, and Shawn Levy (Free Guy) is on board as director.

The as-yet-untitled Deadpool 3 is set for release on September 6th, 2024.
