Sam Witwer teases Star Wars: The Bad Batch will cover unexplored areas

July 21, 2020 by Liam Waddington

Earlier this month, Disney and Lucasfilm announced the next Star Wars animated series, titled Star Wars: The Bad Batch, is set to premiere on the Disney+ streaming service in 2021.

Now, over on his Twitch channel (via Screenrant), Sam Witwer, who is best known for providing the voice of Darth Maul in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, has teased that the new series will cover unexplored areas of the galaxy.

“I will tell you it looks really, really good. It looks absolutely beautiful,” Witwer said. “The story … at least, I know where the story begins in the first several episodes. And I am very pleased, because it’s a little area of Star Wars that has not often been visited. And it’s being visited by people who have come to … I can’t say anything.”

While it’s currently unclear if Witwer will be involved in Star Wars: The Bad Batch, his frequent collaborations with Lucasfilm Animation and creator Dave Filoni means it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if the voice actor had some role in the next Star Wars series.

Are you looking forward to Star Wars: The Bad Batch? Do you think Sam Witwer will be involved in some capacity? Let us know in the comments below or tweet us @flickeringmyth…

Star Wars: The Bad Batch follows the elite and experimental clones of the Bad Batch (first introduced in The Clone Wars) as they find their way in a rapidly changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War. Members of Bad Batch — a unique squad of clones who vary genetically from their brothers in the Clone Army — each possess a singular exceptional skill, which makes them extraordinarily effective soldiers and a formidable crew. In the post-Clone War era, they will take on daring mercenary missions as they struggle to stay afloat and find a new purpose.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch is executive produced by Dave Filoni (The Mandalorian, Star Wars: The Clone Wars), Athena Portillo (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels), Brad Rau (Star Wars Rebels, Star Wars Resistance) and Jennifer Corbett (Star Wars Resistance, NCIS) with Carrie Beck (The Mandalorian, Star Wars Rebels) as co-executive producer and Josh Rimes as producer (Star Wars Resistance). Rau is also serving as supervising director with Corbett as head writer.
