Smallville’s Alan Ritchson was offered Aquaman return in Crisis on Infinite Earths

November 30, 2019 by Gary Collinson

It seems that Tom Welling’s Clark Kent and Erica Durance’s Lois Lane weren’t the only Smallville stars wanted for The CW’s big Arrowverse crossover Crisis on Infinite Earths, as current Titans star Alan Ritchson has revealed that the producers reached out to him about reprising his role as Arthur Curry, a.k.a. Aquaman, only for scheduling issues to prevent him from appearing.

“They did reach out to me,” Ritchson told Collider. “We tried to work it out. We were shooting and it was a very difficult schedule for us. We were shooting three episodes at once all the time. I would have had to leave the country and come back in to get a permit specifically for that show. I did want to participate. We tried to work it out. I’m happy that everybody is getting to come back.”

Ritchson, who currently stars as Hank Hall/Hawk in DC Universe’s Titans, then went on to express his excitement over the crossover, which not only features cast members from The CW’s Arrow, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, Batwoman and Black Lightning but also the likes of Smallville, Batman: The Animated Series,  Batman 66, Birds of Prey and the upcoming DC Universe/CW series Stargirl, as well as Superman Returns’ Brandon Routh as a Kingdom Come-inspired Man of Steel.

“I’m especially happy for the fans,” said Ritchson. “That’s why we do this. Those shows are like a bonanza for the fans. I wish I could have been a part of it.”

Crisis on Infinite Earths airs across five nights, beginning with Supergirl on Sunday, December 8th and taking in Batwoman on Monday, December 9th and The Flash on Tuesday, December 10th, before concluding with Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow on Tuesday, January 14th 2020.
