Solo’s Ron Howard interested in directing another Star Wars movie

November 8, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Ron Howard, the director of Solo: A Star Wars Story, has revealed that he would be up for directing another Star Wars movie.

While Solo: A Star Wars Story didn’t perform anywhere near expectations at the global box office, those that did see it found a lot to love and a lot of the credit must go to Ron Howard, who came aboard as director during a troublesome production.

But has Howard’s experience with Solo soured his opinion on the Star Wars franchise? No, not at all. In fact, Howard told Metro that he would be open to directing another but says the story must be right:

“I had a great experience with that. It would depend entirely on the story. My daughter Bryce Dallas Howard is thrilled. She’s been announced to be directing one of the new episodes of the series headed by Jon Favreau. She’s having a great experience. So I’m kind of living through it again through her. It’s just a creative, inspired group of movie lovers who make those projects.”

The series Howard is referring to is, of course, The Mandalorian – a project many fans will be having their eye on to see how Lucasfilm film responds after Solo.

Would you like to see Howard direct another Star Wars film? Perhaps this time from the beginning of production and shepherding the whole thing through to the end?

A new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.

Solo: A Star Wars Story features Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!) as the famous smuggler, Donald Glover (Atlanta) as Lando Calrissian, Woody Harrelson (War for the Planet of the Apes) as Tobias Beckett, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag) as L3-37, Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) as Qi’Ra, Thandie Newton (Westworld) as Val, Ian Kenny (Sing Street) as Rebolt, Harley Durst (Wonder Woman) as Moloch, Jon Favreau (Spider-Man: Homecoming) as Rio Durant, Paul Bettany (Avengers: Infinity War) as Dryden Vos and Warwick Davis (Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi) as Weazel.
