Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown launches playable demo

October 14, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Daedalic Entertainment has released the brand-new playable demo for Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown on Steam. This upcoming story-driven survival strategy will allow players to experience commanding the U.S.S. Voyager throughout the first sector of the journey back to the Alpha Quadrant.

Throughout the demo, players will take on the role of captain and try out all the game’s core systems, from making decisions to exploring what-if scenarios. There will be opportunities to repair and customise the ship, explore the sector, set out on away missions, and engage in ship-to-ship combat. More importantly, players will get a first look at the beginning of the story.

If you ever thought you could do a better job than Captain Janeway at getting the ship and her crew home, then Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown looks to be the perfect game to find out. Control the U.S.S. Voyager how you want, try out those what-if situations that you’ve often thought about, even if it is at the expense of other races in the quadrant. Try the diplomatic approach like Janeway often did, or plough through the quadrant with all phaser banks firing.

After the Caretaker first moved the Voyager to the Delta Quadrant there were plenty of repairs and reconstruction work to carry out, and no shipyard to help. Take on the challenge to repair and reconstruct ship systems, crew quarters, industrial and research facilities, and more. Take on research projects that the TV series missed, from tech that boosts the crew’s morale to more dangerous research, such as Borg systems.

When it comes to away missions and ship combat, it’s up to you to choose how to approach each situation. Choose either the scientific and diplomatic route or rush headlong into danger. Just remember that all actions have consequences, and not all characters will necessarily make it home.
