Taika Waititi confirms that Thor: Love and Thunder will feature two Thors

August 28, 2019 by Liam Waddington

Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi has confirmed in a recent interview that Natalie Portman’s Mighty Thor will not be taking the place of Chris Hemsworth’s Thor – instead joining him as a second Thor.

“[She’s] a Thor. There’s still the other Thor, the original Thor [played by Chris Hemsworth]. She’s not called Female Thor. In the comics, she’s called the Mighty Thor. …Couldn’t be more happy and excited.”

Although there are currently no plot details for the film as Waititi is still working on the script, this statement seems to be taking in the film in a different approach from the comics as he claims there will be two Thors. However, in the comics, Jane Foster became the Mighty Thor after the original Thor became unworthy to wield Mjolnir.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to be directed by Taika Waititi and will see Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, and Natalie Portman returning for the fourthsolo  outing of the God of Thunder. This will be Portman’s first main role appearance since Thor: The Dark World despite her cameo in Avengers: Endgame, which was created from unused footage from the first Thor sequel.

What are your thoughts on there being two Thors? Do you think this is a good decision? Let us know in the comments below or tweet us @flickeringmyth…
