Teen Titans Go! to the Movies opening weekend tracking suggests a solid hit

July 10, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Warner Bros. releases its first superhero movie of 2018 this month with the animated film Teen Titans Go! to the Movies, and Variety is reporting that tracking is pointing to a domestic opening weekend of between $14 million and $19 million.

While that figure seems low, it has been suggested that the spinoff from the Cartoon Network series has a budget of just $7 million, meaning that it seems likely Warner and DC have a solid hit on their hands.

Teen Titans Go! to the Movies held a fan screening at the back end of last month, where it was met with positive reactions:

Teen Titans Go! To the Movies is super fun. It’s very kiddie but it’s funny, the superhero subversion is clever, the cameos rule and it goes way further than I expected.

Teen Titans Go to the Movies was a total blast and is currently my favorite animated film of the year. I loved all the references from the obscure superheroes to the 80s music. There is even a surprise cameo that will be sure to generate huge laughs from all. #TeenTitansGoMovies pic.twitter.com/vynt4h2Rro

It seems to the Teens that all the major superheroes out there are starring in their own movies—everyone but the Teen Titans, that is! But de facto leader Robin is determined to remedy the situation, and be seen as a star instead of a sidekick. If only they could get the hottest Hollywood film director to notice them. With a few madcap ideas and a song in their heart, the Teen Titans head to Tinsel Town, certain to pull off their dream. But when the group is radically misdirected by a seriously Super-Villain and his maniacal plan to take over the Earth, things really go awry. The team finds their friendship and their fighting spirit failing, putting the very fate of the Teen Titans themselves on the line!

Teen Titans Go! to the Movies is set for release on July 27th in the US and on August 3rd in the UK.
