Temple Run running to the big screen

November 13, 2013 by admin

If it’s a property that a few people like, it’s best to snap it up quick and make a movie out of it.

In today’s case, The Hollywood Reporter have said that Warner Bros and David Heyman (one of the producers behind Harry Potter) are working towards bringing mobile App game Temple Run to the big screen.

The highly addictive games sees an Indiana Jones-esque explorer run away endlessly with a piece of treasure while being chased by demonic monkeys. Players must dodge, jump and slide to avoid obstacles in order to avoid death. Presumably, the big screen version will expand on this.

A screenwriter is yet to be attached.

The official App store description reads: “From the makers of the award-winning best-seller ‘Harbor Master‘ comes the most exhilarating running game on the App Store. Test your reflexes as you race down ancient temple walls and along sheer cliffs. Swipe to turn, jump and slide to avoid obstacles, collect coins and buy power ups, and see how far you can run!”

Temple Run has become one of the most successful games on the App store and spawned two movie tie-in spin offs in Temple Run: Brave and Temple Run: Oz. A direct sequel, Temple Run 2, was released last year.
