Terminator: Dark Fate begins its international roll out with $13 million

October 28, 2019 by Amie Cranswick

Although it doesn’t hit the majority of markets (including the U.S. and China) until this Friday, Terminator: Date Fate was unleashed into ten territories this past weekend, pulling in a combined $12.8 million.

The film, which serves as a direct sequel to Terminator: Judgment Day and reunites stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton and producer James Cameron for the first time since the 1991 movie, topped the charts in Thailand and Singapore and claimed second place in the Austria, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.

The $185 million-budgeted film has been tracking a $40 million plus domestic opening, but if Terminator: Genisys is any indication, Dark Fate is going to be making the majority of its money overseas (China was Genisys’ best market, and James Cameron has a big following in the Middle Kingdom).

Terminator: Dark Fate is directed by Tim Miller (Deadpool), with James Cameron producing, and sees Arnold Schwarzenegger (T-800) and Linda Hamilton (Sarah Connor) reprising their roles alongside new cast additions Mackenzie Davis (Blade Runner 2049), Natalia Reyes (Lady), Diego Boneta (Pretty Little Liars) and Gabriel Luna (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.).
