The Ninth Doctor and Rose Tyler are back with Doctor Who: The Ninth Doctor Adventures – Snare

Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper are back together for Doctor Who: The Ninth Doctor Adventures – Snare, a brand-new full-cast audio drama released today on the Big Finish website. This first full-cast episode in a brand-new bi-monthly series follows on from the TV episode Father’s Day, which saw Rose cause a bit of a rumpus when she met her dad on the day he died.

Following on from the TV episode, Rose asks the Doctor to take her to her home on the Powell Estate to see her mum, Jackie (played by the wonderful Camille Coduri). While there, the pair bump into Kevin, a former neighbour who has returned to clear out his father’s flat with the help of posh artist friend Marlene.  When Kevin discovers something strange going on in the flat, the Doctor doesn’t hesitate to get involved, but when he discovers an alien jungle growing in the bathroom, he realises that something ancient is stirring on the Estate.

Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper are joined by Camille Coduri as Jackie, Alex Austin as Kevin, and Hannah Brown as Marlene.

Billie Piper said: “It’s like coming home. It’s lovely. And there’s always something deeply emotional about Doctor Who episodes, particularly Russell T Davies’. For this one, I felt like the story of Kevin’s dad and the mental health issues is so Doctor Who and Russell. It’s fun and it’s a rollicking ride, but there’s also something that’s really sad and troubling at its core that moves you.”

Christopher Eccleston added: “It was strange recording this script because seeing those references to Rose’s estate really took me right back to 2004 and the TARDIS in the middle of the estate. I can remember those days very vividly.”

Doctor Who – The Ninth Doctor Adventures: Snare is available to purchase from the Big Finish website for £9.99 as a download and £11.99 for the download and a limited Collector’s Edition CD. Listeners can also pre-order the complete series of all 12 releases at £102 for the download, or £126 for the Collector’s Edition CDs.
