The Predator gets a new poster as Shane Black discusses the film’s reshoots

August 3, 2018 by Amie Cranswick

With The Predator set to arrive in cinemas next month, a new international poster has been release for Shane Black’s upcoming reboot which showcases the titular alien hunter in ‘Predator Vision’; check it out here…

Meanwhile, speaking to Collider, Black has been discussing the film’s much-publicised reshoots and his decision to revamp the big confrontation during the third act, having it take place at night rather than during the day as was originally shot:

“Part of it was that we were making the film and we were trying to jam a lot into a five-pound bag. So we had a big appetite, and one of the things about that was, well, if you want to do all of that stuff with this much money, you probably need to shoot during the day because during the night would be prohibitive.

“And then to our chagrin, and it’s on me, when I saw the footage during the day, om the climax of the movie [the Predator] doesn’t look right. He doesn’t look scary in the daytime. And then we decided to streamline the plot so we could afford to go back up and really concentrate on the scarier elements and doing it at night. So literally, as they’ve said, the difference is night and day. We took everything out of day and put it into darkness.”

From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black’s explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.

The Predator features a cast that includes Boyd Holbrook (Logan), Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight), Thomas Jane (The Punisher), Augusto Aguilera (The Fifth Man), Jacob Tremblay (Room) Sterling K. Brown (This is Us, The People v. O.J. Simpson), Keegan-Michael Key (Key & Peele), Olivia Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse), Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones), Yvonne Strahovski (Chuck), Edward James Olmos (Battlestar Galactica) and Jake Busey (From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series).
