Tom Cruise to reunite with Joseph Kosinski on Go Like Hell

October 24, 2013 by admin

Tom Cruise is to reunite with Oblivion director Joseph Kosinski on the adaptation of A.J. Baime’s book Go Like Hell: Ford, Ferrari and Their Battle for Speed and Glory at Le Mans.

The racing picture will be “set in the 1960s when Ford was falling behind in the sports car marketplace and will centre on the rivalry between Henry Ford II and Enzo Ferrari.” Previous reports indicated that Tom Cruise would play Henry Ford however it looks as if he will instead play racing icon Carroll Shelby. Cruise’s role Shelby will find him helping Ford II reinvent Ford by entering the high-stakes world of European car racing which was dominated by Ferrari.

Joseph Kosinski has an incredibly good eye for cinematography but both Tron: Legacy and Oblivion felt like style over substance. However, with a proper narrative and a “period” setting, Go Like Hell could be Kosinski’s first real critical success.

No word on when the film opens but production will begin early 2014.
