Transformers prequel movie set on Cybertron in development with Ant-Man writers

May 28, 2015 by Luke Owen

It was revealed last week that several new writers had been hired by Paramount to expand out their Transformers franchise and universe, including sequels, prequels and spin-offs. Among the names were Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead), Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (Iron Man), Zak Penn (Pacific Rim 2) and Jeff Pinkner (The Amazing Spider-Man 2), and now we have two new names to add to the list.

Deadline are reporting that Ant-Man scribes (post-Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish, of course) Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari have been hired by the studio to start work in the Transformers Universe. According to the website, the duo will tackle a live-action prequel movie under the working title Transformers One, which will be set on Cybertron, the home planet of the Autobots and Decepticons.

“I’ve also heard that this might be an animated feature but that Barrer & Ferrari are also going to the writers room with the expectation they’ll write a live-action Transformers movie as well”, Deadline’s Mike J. Fleming Jr writes. “Paramount insiders said they haven’t gotten that far on the specific projects, but I am told this is the plan.”

No official word yet on Transformers spin-offs, but rumours are that plans will fall into place once Michael Bay has finished directing Benghazi drama 13 Hours.
