Venom: Let There Be Carnage release moved up by two weeks

September 7, 2021 by Amie Cranswick

In a world where release date changes have become commonplace, it’s refreshing that the latest isn’t actually a delay…

Spurred on no doubt by the box office success of Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which opened to $128 million worldwide this past weekend, Sony has decided to move up the release of the Tom Hardy-led Marvel sequel Venom: Let There Be Carnage by two weeks.

It’s been speculated in recent weeks that Sony could move the film once more, with the latest trailer omitting a release date in favour of “coming soon” and some reports indicating that it could even be bumped into 2022. However, the sequel will now hit on October 1st, a fortnight earlier than its latest October 15th slot, and a year on from its planned pre-pandemic date of October 2020.

SEE ALSO: Venom: Let There Be Carnage officially rated PG-13

Venom: Let There Be Carnage sees Andy Serkis (Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle) directing returning Venom cast members Tom Hardy (Eddie Brock/Venom), Michelle Williams (Anne Weying), Woody Harrelson (Cletus Kasady/Carnage), and Reid Scott (Dr. Dan Lewis), alongside new additions Naomie Harris (No Time To Die) and Stephen Graham (The Irishman).
