William Fichtner joins Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in an “iconic role”

May 10, 2013 by admin

Yesterday we got our first look at the Foot Clan in the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live-action reboot thanks to a batch of set photos, and now today we may have discovered the identity of their master. According to Deadline, William Fichtner (The Dark Knight, Drive Angry) has joined the cast of the Michael Bay-produced remake in “a lead [role] with iconic stature in the Turtles’ mythology”. Considering his penchant for playing bad guys, and the fact he’s probably a little too old to play Casey Jones, it would seem we have our Shredder.

Fichtner – whose other upcoming roles include Disney’s The Lone Ranger and Neill Blomkamp’s Elysium – joins a cast that includes Megan Fox (Transformers) as April O’Neil, Alan Ritchson (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) as Raphael, Pete Ploszek (Parks and Recreation) as Leonardo, Jeremy Howard (How the Grinch Stole Christmas) as Donatello, Noel Fisher (Battle Los Angeles) as Michaelangelo, Danny Woodburn (Seinfeld) as Splinter and Will Arnett (Arrested Development) as Vernon Fenwick.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is being directed by Jonathan Leibesman (Wrath of the Titans) and is due to hit cinemas on June 6th 2014.
