Yahya Abdul-Mateen II confirms Black Manta return for Aquaman 2

December 16, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Although its still some three years away, Aquaman actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has revealed to Entertainment Weekly that he will be reprising the role of David Kane, a.k.a. Black Manta, in Warner Bros. and DC Films’ Aquaman 2, and is looking forward to getting the opportunity to further explore his character in the sequel.

“We have a date of December 2022,” states Abdul-Mateen, who is currently portraying Doctor Manhattan in HBO’s Watchmen and will soon be seen in the Jordan Peele-produced Candyman reboot. “Hopefully, that will hold. Black Manta will be back – I feel confident in saying that. I’m excited to step into that world again and cause some more trouble. I really want to add more personality and more character to David Kane and flesh him out in Aquaman 2 and give him more of a journey.”
