Zack Snyder talks mixing practical and digital effects for Batman v Superman, teases a “bigger enemy” for Justice League

January 7, 2016 by Robert Kojder

Speaking with Empire Magazine, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder spoke about the fun of implementing a wide range of more reality grounded practical effects that a character like Batman requires, juxtaposed with the heavy CGI nature of Superman’s other-worldly abilities.

“It has been really fun using Batman as the answer to Superman, because he’s not flying around and acting crazy,” he said. “He’s just driving around in his Batmobile, doing his Batstuff. We were able to do a lot of this practically. Batman brings that back. Figuring out how to mix Batman’s practical approach with Superman has been an awesome experience.”

Meanwhile, Snyder has also revealed that work is underway on the big two-part DC team-up Justice League, and teased a “bigger enemy”:

“We’re working on Justice League right now. In a weird way, Justice League is the next step for these characters to form a bigger team. Maybe there’s a bigger enemy to fight.”
