Zazie Beetz isn’t returning as Domino in Deadpool 3

June 14, 2023 by EJ Moreno

Zazie Beetz isn’t returning for a third Deadpool movie, so the actress doesn’t know much about its strange new production problem.

As we enter another month of the WGA Strike, films and television shows have to work around the strike to keep things friendly. This has caused a rumored issue for Deadpool 3 as credited writer and lead actor Ryan Reynolds can not improv on set, given his writing status.

Sadly, we don’t know anything about that situation as yet, but we have just learned that we won’t see one of the Merc with a Mouth’s fan-favorite co-stars returning for Marvel Studios’ Deadpool 3.

Decider broke the story as they recently spoke to the actress at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of her upcoming limited series Full Circle. This is where Beetz dishes on all things she knows about Deadpool and the delay in production.

Beetz explains, “Well, I’m actually not in Deadpool 3, so I don’t know what they’re doing [about improvisation]. I’m assuming they’re probably taking a pause.” She adds, “I’m excited to watch it.”

The plans for Deadpool 3 seem more in line with an homage to 20th Century Fox’s X-Men era; think Spider-Man: No Way Home for the original X-Men cast. Josh Brolin’s Cable and Zazie Beetz’s Domino will probably be mentioned in a meta-style joke. However, Reynolds will likely focus the film on the return of Wolverine and the other X-Men characters.

The film is set to star Reynolds and Deadpool veterans Stefan Kapacic (Colossus), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), and Rob Delaney (Peter) as well as Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and new additions Matthew Macfadyen and Emma Corrin in as yet unspecified roles.

Free Guy helmer Shawn Levy directs Deadpool 3, which will mark Marvel Studios’ first R-rated release. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but expect to see Deadpool and Wolverine on some kind of multiverse-spanning fourth wall-breaking adventure that serves as a farewell to Fox’s Marvel universe and merging into the MCU.

Deadpool 3 arrives in cinemas on May 4th, 2024.
