Six actors screentest for Spider-Man role in Captain America: Civil War

May 31, 2015 by Gary Collinson

It looks like we won’t have long to wait until we discover who’ll be the next actor to don the mask as Spider-Man, with The Hollywood Reporter revealing that Marvel and Sony have tested six actors on Saturday for the role of the wall-crawler.

According to the site, the candidates included Asa Butterfield (Ender’s Game) and Tom Holland (The Impossible) – who were said to be on the shortlist back in April – along with Judah Lewis (Demolition), Matthew Lintz (Pixels), Charlie Plummer (Boardwalk Empire) and Charlie Rowe (Red Band Society).

Earlier reports had suggested that Butterfield had already been cast, which THR says is false (given that these reports came from Latino-Review, that should come as little surprise). However, a decision is set to be made early in the week.

Spider-Man will make his MCU debut in Captain America: Civil War, which is set for release in May, followed by his own solo movie in July 2017. Who would you like to see taking on the role? Let us know in the comments below…
