Marvel’s third Netflix series has added its first cast member beyond Mike Colter’s titular hero, with Deadline reporting that Alfre Woodard (Desperate Housewives, True Blood) has signed on for a villain role in Luke Cage.
The official character breakdown states that Woodard is set to play Minetta, “a powerful woman in local politics who will have an impact on Luke Cage’s life,” with Deadline adding that this could be a version of the Marvel villain Black Mariah.
Luke Cage will arrive on Netflix some time in 2016, although Power Man will be making an appearance later this year alongside Krysten Ritter in Jessica Jones.
