Lea Seydoux offered female lead in Gambit opposite Channing Tatum

August 25, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

Deadline is reporting that Blue Is the Warmest Colour star Lea Seydoux has been offered the lead female role in upcoming 20th Century Fox comic book adaptation Gambit.

Seydoux, who also stars in the new James Bond film Spectre , is said to have beaten out Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation) and Mad Max: Fury Road star Abbey Lee for the role of Belladonna Boudreaux, although Ferguson is reported to have turned down the role to star in The Girl On the Train with Emily Blunt.

Channing Tatum (Foxcatcher) plays the lead mutant in the film, which is directed by Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) and will see Seydoux as Gambit’s childhood love who gains powers of her own when she grows up and becomes head of the Assassin’s Guild.

Expect more casting for the film to be announced soon. Gambit is set for release on October 6th, 2016.
