UPDATE: Mark Hamill almost died during the filming of Star Wars: The Force Awakens

September 15, 2015 by admin

It seems as though stepping back into a galaxy far, far away was dangerous for its returning stars. We heard that Harrison Ford was injured during filming, and now we’ve had word today that Mark Hamill almost met a worse fate.

Rian Johnson is heading to Skellig Michael in Ireland today to begin production on Star Wars: Episode VIII, which is the same location J.J. Abrams used for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The site has seen a few people slip and fall to their deaths in recent years and according to British newspaper The Times, Hamill nearly joined those numbers while filming the movie. Thankfully he was saved by a keen-eyed guide who caught the actor as he slipped. According to an “eye witness”, he would have been “a goner” had the guide not caught him.

The Force was clearly strong with that guide.

UPDATE: Well, it turns out the story is a fabrication, according to the man himself…

This story is completely untrue. Don't know how this story got started, but filming went splendidly, thanks. https://t.co/xwoliRV51L

Star Wars: Episode VIII is slated for release on May 26th 2017, with Benicio Del Toro joining the cast for a villain role. As yet, there’s no word on returning cast members, although you’d assume the majority of those who survive The Force Awakens will be back for the next chapter.
