Universal wants Angelina Jolie for Bride of Frankenstein

November 24, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Originally published November 24, 2015. Updated April 15, 2018.

With Universal Pictures moving full steam ahead with its shared Monster universe, it seems the studio is hoping to lure Angelina Jolie for the lead role in Bride of Frankenstein.

According to a report in THR, Universal financed Jolie’s latest directorial offering By the Sea, which sees her starring alongside husband Brad Pitt – and is expected to make a loss of around $40 million – in the hope that she would return the favour by signing on to appear in Bride of Frankenstein, and/or the long-rumoured Wanted 2.

Universal’s new Monster universe is set to get underway in 2017 with a remake of The Mummy, while development is also officially underway on The Wolf Man, Creature from the Black Lagoon and Van Helsing.
