Has War Machine been given a new name in Captain America: Civil War?

December 21, 2015 by Luke Owen

We all know that Don Cheadle’s War Machine is part of the New Avengers line-up via the ending of Avengers: Age of Ultron, and as such he’s part of the huge cast of Captain America: Civil War. We’ve seen from the trailers that he’s in trouble – as he’s being held in the arms of his buddy Iron Man – but a new story could suggest that he won’t be War Machine at all.

Total Film have posted their preview for the movie in their latest magazine with this statement:

“Old Shellhead’s greatest ally, War Hammer (Don Cheadle) looks to get into a spot of bother in Civil War – the film’s trailer shows his pulverised body being cradled by a distraught Tony. Could this be the end of the line?”

Now, Total Film are a very reputable film magazine here in the UK, so this is could be some information they were given by the Disney PR team. However, there is also every chance in the world that this was a typo on their part, and they meant to say War Machine. However, with a large staff and editorial team, you would think something like that wouldn’t slip through?
