Sophie Turner says Sansa Stark will “command the respect she deserves” in Game of Thrones season 6

January 31, 2016 by Gary Collinson

A lot of characters have been put through the wringer on Game of Thrones, but arguably none so more than Sansa Stark. She’s seen her father brutally slain at the command of her then fiance Joffrey Baratheon, her family torn apart (and the majority killed), spent years being held hostage at King’s Landing, before being married off to the sadistic Ramsay Bolton.

The last we saw off Sansa she was jumping from the battlements of Winterfell with Theon Greyjoy / Reek, her fate uncertain. But it seems we’ll soon see an upturn in fortunes for Sansa, with actress Sophie Turner telling Entertainment Weekly that the character is finally going to come into her own in the upcoming sixth season.

“This season is a really, really big one for Sansa,” states Turner. “It’s probably her best season yet. It’s her really coming into her own. She, this season, really commands the respect that she deserves and she grabs hold of it and she runs with it and it’s really good. [The season five finale] was amazing because the past five seasons, it feels like it’s been building up and up to that. You can only suffer so much before she finally gets the respect that she deserves.”

Turner also went on to share her excitement for the season in general, adding that: “This season there’s like so many shocks, it’s massive. It’s the biggest season yet. And just like in terms of character development, so many people’s storylines, I’m so excited for. I’m so excited to see Alfie’s one this season. It’s going to be good.”
