Mark Hamill to reprise the role of The Trickster in The Flash

December 8, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Outside of Star Wars, Mark Hamill is best known for his voice work as The Joker in the DC animated universe, but way back in 1991 Hamill portrayed another DC villain, and in live-action no less, taking on the role of The Trickster in the John Wesley Shipp-headlined series The Flash. And, according to HitFix, Hamill is set to return to the role in The CW’s current series, with the site reporting that he’ll be back as James Jesse in episode 17 of the current season.

The official character description reads:

“Mark Hamill returns in a brand new interpretation of James Jesse (aka The Trickster), a role he originated on the 90’s ‘Flash‘ series.  In this new iteration, The Trickster is an anarchist terrorist  con man serving a life sentence in Iron Heights who helps Barry (Grant Gustin) and Det. West (Jesse L. Martin) to foil the city-wide attacks of a wannabe Trickster eagerly following in the original’s deadly footsteps.   The episode will reunite him with John Wesley Shipp who went up against him as the original ‘Flash‘ on the CBS version.”

Hamill isn’t the only star of the original show set to return to their original role, with Amanda Pays set to make her debut on The CW’s Flash as Dr. Tina McGee in this week’s episode ‘The Man in the Yellow Suit’. Watch trailer for the episode here.
