Hugh Jackman joins Taron Egerton in Eddie the Eagle biopic

January 12, 2015 by Gary Collinson

According to The Daily Mail, Hugh Jackman is set to join the cast of Dexter Fletcher’s biopic of British Olympian Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards, a ski-jumper who became a national hero at the 1988 Olympics despite finishing last in both of his events.

Jackman will reportedly play Chuck Berghorn, the trailer who helped Eddie prepare for his exploits in Calgary, while rising British star Taron Egerton is set to play The Eagle himself, having reportedly secured the role after a “magical” screen test opposite the X-Men star.

Egerton will soon be seen in Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman: The Secret Service, while Jackman’s next film is the Neill Blomkamp-directed sci-fi Chappie, which has just received a new trailer.
