Jeff Nichols to direct Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga in Loving

May 10, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

Deadline has revealed details the latest project from Mud and Take Shelter director Jeff Nichols, which is set for release in 2016.

The acclaimed director is to direct Loving, a new drama that Nichols has written himself, and is set to start filming in September. Joel Edgerton (Exodus: Gods and Kings) and Ruth Negga (World War Z) will star in the film as Mildred and Richard Loving, the famous couple behind a civil rights case against Virginia in 1967.

On the project, Nichols is quoted as saying: “I was struck by the simplicity of The Loving Story, and I hope to make this a painfully beautiful film.”
