Warner Bros. moves Sandman to New Line Cinema, Guillermo del Toro no longer attached to Justice League Dark adaptation

June 29, 2015 by Gary Collinson

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Warner Bros. has shuffled some of its DC properties, moving its upcoming adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman and future Vertigo titles to sister company New Line Cinema in order to focus its attention of the likes of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and the rest of the Justice League.

However, it seems that the Shazam movie – which has Dwayne Johnson attached to star as Black Adam – will remain at New Line, while Warner Bros. will retain the Justice League Dark adaptation Dark Universe, although it will do so without Guillermo del Toro, who has reportedly left the project after several years of development.

Moving forward, it seems that Warner Bros. will be responsible for those characters who could fit in their interconnected ‘DC movie universe’, with New Line handling the more creator-driven, boundary-pushing Vertigo content under Toby Emmerich and Richard Brener.
