Rumour: Female director wanted for Tomb Raider reboot

July 1, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Lara Croft fans have been clamouring for another big screen instalment of the Tomb Raider franchise for over a decade now, and according to rumours, MGM and Warner Bros. are looking to enlist a female director for the proposed reboot.

According to Heroic Hollywood, a script by Evan Daugherty (Snow White and the Huntsman, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) is now out to directors, with the studio apparently seeking a filmmaker in the vein of Michelle McLaren (Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad), who was recently attached to Warner Bros. Wonder Woman movie before leaving the project due to creative differences.

Now, while the idea of a female director for Tomb Raider makes complete sense, bear in mind that Heroic Hollywood is quickly replacing Latino-Review as the number one source on the internet for baseless rumour, linkbaiting speculation and fake concept art, so we should probably take this with a healthy pinch of salt. Still, they do have a 50% chance of getting this one right.

Who would you like to see directing a Tomb Raider reboot? Let us know in the comments below…
